– Secret Place Insights –
Dear one, sometime ago when I came down from upstairs, I got my first glimpse of the flowers pictured above. A delivery man had just placed them in my husband’s hands. They were sent from dear members of our church. For several days, during my agonizing back pain, every time I looked at them, I was comforted. Certainly, I was encouraged by the thoughtfulness of those who had sent them, but it seemed that the comfort was derived from an additional source, perhaps it was a spiritual element? Ah, yes, yes, the source had to be God. For the flowers were alive and all living things come from God – the maker of all creation, heaven and earth. God is the true source of comfort for the hearts of Men.
Though I could not venture outside at the time, I thought of what takes place when one does step into God’s created beauty – and stands under the ever-changing sky above, with the very earth beneath one’s feet, surrounded by a landscape of trees, fields, or lakes (there are three along my route), and breathes deeply from an abundance of life-giving, fresh air. I envisioned walking down our quiet road taking in all that comes to Man by way of the hand of God. It seldom fails to invigorate… inspire… and strengthen.
Yes, in creation one senses that there is a power far beyond that of Man. Who has not, at least once, while staring up into a vast starlit sky, felt a quaking in his chest. Certainly one senses the spiritual element. So much so, that at times, it takes one’s breath away.
The flowers on our table did not take my breath away, but they were indoor reminders of the One who does. Currently, I am well enough to take short walks, look around at the God‘s handiwork, and return inspired…stayed to do my best to die-to-self…until I die to live again with Him. I am quite sure that such-a-time-as-that will once again take my breath away.
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities –
his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen,
being understood from what has been made, so that men are
without excuse.” Romans 2:5 NIV
Blessings,
Susanne
