Dear One, you and I try to be patient when we are put on hold, but sometimes it is nearly impossible. And the recordings which tell us how important we are don’t help…much… especially if it is the third or fourth time we’ve called. Please just answer the phone. Oh, but maybe caller I. D is keeping my call from being accepted? Now that’s an awful thought.
What got me thinking along these lines? God. It struck me one morning how amazing it was that I had never heard, “Please hold. God has people waiting on line from New York, Madrid, Algiers, Rome, Istanbul, Moscow, Dubai, Beijing, Tokyo, Vancouver… Estimated wait time: three-hours and forty-five minutes. Please hold, as your call is important to God.”
From Google, “According to a 2011 Pew Research Center survey, there were 2.18 billion Christians around the world in 2010.” And yet, our Father has the ability to listen – instantly – to each of us, one-on-one. How does He do that? You and I, at times, cannot keep the attention of our spouse or a good friend. Yet God is always ready, willing, even wanting to hear from us. And on top of that He keeps our requests, our prayers, in golden bowls (Revelation 5:8). Those must be some mega bowls!
God never puts anyone on hold (* exception). Is there anyone in this world with whom you and I have guaranteed instant access? No! And yet, we have instant access to the God of all creation, the God who created the universe, the universe which still appears unending to the wisest of scientists! We have, at will, private access to the King of Kings. When we stop to think about it, it is mind blowing, isn’t it? I cannot imagine how God is able to do it. But then I cannot imagine how our computers manage to service millions of people at the same time. And God is certainly more capable than man-made computers.
Of course, our connection with God the Father is through the third part of the Trinity, the Indwelling Holy Spirit, the Comforter. He provides our constant and open line to God the Father through Jesus the Christ. “Thank you, Lord.”
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels,
nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things
to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is
in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38, 39
* There once was a morning during my quiet time that I had to make things right with someone, before I could come back to God in prayer.
Blessings,
Susanne
