– Secret Place Insights –
Dear One, I am often invited to talk privately with people I meet here or there throughout my day-to-day life. The question I am usually asked is how can I know God? I try to never pass up an opportunity to share what seems to be a secret to many. For knowing God, having a close relationship with Him, is the greatest gift in all the world…yes…in all the world. If you do not know this, I can tell you how to begin. “If you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you.” James 4:8. It is not a one-and-done, it is a now-and-ever-after, a continual drawing nearer. A close relationship with God can turn a once mundane life into an adventure. The adventure begins with a change of heart. Yes, it is amazing…for God is amazing.
That is why I created this website. If I am talking with a stranger in a store, or at a sporting event or who knows where, and our time together is cut short, I can now suggest visiting the website. Hopefully, Making God a Priority, Going Deeper, or the link for further discussion might be of help. This week, while making a purchase, I talked to a clerk who had recently returned to the faith. We both had more to say to each other, but there were five customers waiting for his assistance. Thankfully, I now have a ‘help’ in the form of a Hopelessly-Hopeful card to leave behind. If you would like to, you are welcome to use this site to assist seekers who come across your path.
So what happens when we live this life in a close relationship with God? A whole lot…of surprising stuff. And what happens because of that. Out of our ever growing love for God we become disciples who make disciples who make disciples, and on and on. Because of our response to Him, we are likely to take on almost, I say, almost, more than we can handle.
A few weeks ago…such seemed to be the case for me, and I became fearful. It appeared that I had taken on too much. I would surely let people down. How could I ever carry through with what I had agreed. All I could do was attempt to do it, and as I did, the impossible was made possible.
As I prepared for my 1st commitment – I came across what I needed for my 2nd commitment. What I needed for the 3rd was provided through a friend. For the 4th commitment, I recalled I had exactly what I needed on hand. All that I needed became available. And I was left with optional time!
I will never believe that I lucked out, no never. Our God, who desires to be closer than a friend, and calls us to share His Truth with others, is also known, as Our Great Provider. Not as a provider of all we want, but for all we need in His service.
So what do we need most?
We need to know God – intimately.
And then?
From there, the One who knows us best, will lead us according to the purpose for which we were designed.
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our
knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.” 2 Peter 1:3
Blessings,
Susanne
