– Secret Place Insights –
Dear One, it amazes me how often one can be reminded of God, or see the hand of God, in daily life – once the Bible becomes the Living Word in one’s heart. After that, it seems that God and His Truths open fresh insights almost everywhere. A lesson a day? Perhaps even more than that! A sacrificing faith in God makes for exciting days in what might appear to all others to be a very dull life. I maintain that the life of one steeped in God’s Word, for the purpose of honoring Him, dying to self, and serving Him as best one can is far, far from boring.
So what does the picture of potatoes have to do with spiritual insight? It is just another example of a lesson from God in the midst of everyday life. Proving that with God, what once was mundane, is no more. Really? Yes! How can one’s life be anything but alive in Christ when the Indwelling Holy Spirit resides closer than one’s own skin?
So, recently, while I was cooking, I was reminded of my life before having an intimate relationship with God. There was no sizzle, just like the potatoes on my stove. Usually, when I fry potatoes, I add bacon fat to the pan, warm it, and then toss in the potatoes. That’s when the popping and sizzling begins, which connects this cook with her mealtime offering.
But for these potatoes, for less calories, I tried browning them with just a tiny touch of olive oil. I stirred them around, around, and around again…boring…boring. They seemed dry, flat, had no appeal; I lost all interest in them. THEN, I added bacon fat. Instantly, they snapped, popped, and sizzled. They came to life. They held my interest.
Ron and I ate them with relish, just like God wants us to read His Holy Bible; like one does following the addition of the Indwelling Holy Spirit. For He brings the Word of God to life for the people of God.
“Your words were found, and I ate them,
and your words became to me a joy
And the delight of my heart,
For I am called by your name,
O LORD, God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16
Once a person claims Jesus Christ as Savior, God claims him or her as His son or daughter, and sends the Holy Spirit to guide him or her in His ways. To chat about this, please contact me. Life lived with God, for God, is when life’s true purpose begins. Can I prove this to you? No, but God can.
Blessings,
Susanne
