– Secret Place Insights –
Dear One, when God places something on our hearts, and we have a deep sense that what He placed there is something that we should carry out, but we do not act upon it, what happens? I have been told that God’s work will not be hindered, that He simply passes the inspiration to another more faithful to His promptings. And that if we continue to ignore His promptings, He stops favoring us with such inspirations.
A number of weeks ago, I was convicted that God wanted the Faith@Prayer ministry of which I belong to offer an hour of prayer for children returning to school or college. It seemed that a special invitation should go out to our church and community. After a few days of thinking over the when and the how, the idea began to fade, and nearly vanished from my consciousness. What happened?
Such fading I believe is due to ‘man’s (my) sinful nature,’ and Satan’s wily and conniving ways. So in such a situation, what should a person do? Go back to God.
Go back, sit with Him, and wait upon Him. That is what I did, and the inspiration was reignited and blazed once again. Ideas came to the fore, I consulted with the prayer team, and we moved on them. And then again the inspiration faded. What to do? Go back to God.
Conviction was renewed but this time, I decided if the inspiration faded, I was going to ignore it. I had to, God had made His desire known, now it was my duty to carry through regardless of wavering feelings. For the fading was in my heart – not God’s. A new format for the special prayer meeting was written. It would be guided prayer followed by silent prayer. An informational handout was designed with a lion and lamb as representations of God the Father and His children. It included a plea for intercession:
For Children in School or College:
An Hour of Guided Prayer
In Today’s World Prayer is Not an Option.
It is a Necessity. Come, Pray for Your Children.
God Hears the Cries of our Hearts.
So, what happened? Absolute, never fading conviction. So much so, that if there is not a single additional person in attendance this Wednesday, September 11th, from Noon to 1:00, in the sanctuary of Faith Reformed Church, our prayer team will leave the church convinced that in the effort God was honored. After all, that is Christ’s call to God’s people …to honor God… regardless of…regardless of whatever obstacles sin and Satan place within our hearts or in our paths.
“Submit yourselves, then to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
Blessings,
Susanne
